I started my Legal Career in 1981 after completing a Law Degree at the University of Canterbury. After working in a Law Firm in Christchurch I spent 2 years in the North Island working for a Rural Firm and a City Firm. I returned to Christchurch and have worked in Bishopdale since 1985 and set up Bishopdale Law in 1997.
I have over the years developed a wide and varied private client base specialising in property transactions (both residential and commercial), Wills, Estates, Trusts, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Elder Law Issues.
I am married with 3 children aged from 15 to 20 years. My main interests outside work are running, cycling, watching sport (particularly rugby) and travel. I love planning my next overseas adventure. I also enjoy owning a small share in a number of racehorses and follow them with unjustified optimism.
I am Christchurch born and bred. I attended Villa Maria College and completed my Law Degree at the University of Canterbury. I was admitted to the Bar in 1985 and have been a partner at Bishopdale Law since February 2008.
I enjoy working with a range of clients, developing long term relationships and providing legal experience and assistance in a variety of areas including property transactions (both residential and commercial), Wills, estates, trusts, powers of attorney.
Outside of work I enjoy getting out of town with my partner and getting together with family and friends.
I have been a lawyer since 1989, after graduating from Canterbury University and being admitted to the Bar in Wellington. I spent my first few years working for a commercial firm in Wellington and then after a year or so of travel, came back to Christchurch where I have worked ever since. I spent about ten years speciailising as a civil court lawyer, and then took time out to start a family. I then came back to law, this time working more in general practice focussing on property (including relationship property) based matters.
I like the variety of work that a general practice provides, and the challenges it brings.
When I am not providing a taxi service for my two children, I like to go on long walks, or catch a movie or a play.
My name is Bronwyne Hill and I work for Bishopdale Law as a registered Legal Executive. I work alongside Richard and Shirley and am kept very busy! My key area that I work in is conveyancing, which is always challenging and interesting.
I have worked at Bishopdale Law for approximately 4 years having worked here for one year prior to having children and I am now lucky enough to work School hours Monday to Friday. I have worked in law since I left School in various firms and roles and studied to become a Legal Executive while working part-time. I qualified as a Legal Executive in 1994. I love being part of a small busy team and am lucky enough to work alongside my Mum, Shirley, who has a wealth of knowledge and experience.
I am married to Brendan and we have two delightful daughters, Caitlynne (11) and Brianna (8). My girls keep me very busy out of work time coaching their netball teams and have me driving them all over town to various dance classes and sports practices. My hobbies include spending time with my family and friends, going to the gym, gardening and definitely a glass or two of Sauvignon Blanc over the weekend!
Deciding on a career path back in the 1960s has taken me to Bishopdale Law for whom I have been with now for 28 years. The firm has developed over the years with Richard and myself being the “originals” and currently consisting of 3 Solicitors and 6 support staff. My expertise is in conveyancing, Wills, Trusts, Enduring Powers of Attorneys and Estates but also in other areas.
I do enjoy working at this firm and in fact work with one of my daughters who also embarked on a Legal Career. Bronwyne qualified as a Legal Executive and is now working alongside myself. We seem to make a “Good Team”. Over the years I have had to adapt to ever changing technology. Probably my greatest achievement has been to guide a previous Staff Member from Receptionist/Junior Position to a qualified Legal Executive. She is currently the Representative for Canterbury/Westland/Otago/Southland on the NZILE Council.
I have been married to my husband, Bruce, for 47 years and have 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren. My interests outside of work are Socialising, Sport, Music and Gardening. The weekends consist of watching my grandchildren in their numerous activities.
I have been working in the legal profession for approximately 27 years, having returned to the work force once my youngest went to school. I came to Bishopdale Law in April 2010 having worked in a small suburban office in Hornby for 15 years and prior to that a sole practitioner for six years. At Bishopdale Law my main role is as secretary for Jane Watson. We are a small and friendly office and I enjoy the close contact with clients and being able to assist them to the best of my ability.
On a personal note, I am married with three adult children, two beautiful grandchildren and a third due in September 2015.
My spare time is usually spent with my family and catching up with friends. I also enjoy gardening, walking, knitting, reading and keeping up with the rugby, cricket and tennis on television.
I have been working as a Trust Accountant in various law firms in Christchurch since 1980. I have worked full time until having my first child in 1987 and have had part time roles since then. I worked at Bishopdale Law since January 2001 starting with a few hours a week with Richard and Shirley. I now work 30 hours a week.
I enjoy the variety of work my position brings, the challenges of busy settlement days and the satisfaction when everything balances.
I am kept busy with two part time jobs as well as working at Bishopdale Law. I have two adult children I am extremely proud of. I enjoy being part of their lives, relaxing with family and friends and walking the dog.
I’m British, however, I spent most of my childhood growing up in France and moved over to New Zealand with my family back in 2007. After graduating high school I studied Business at Ara. During both my high school and tertiary studies, I worked at a hair salon as a receptionist. I worked there for many years and thought it was time to find a job which had a potential career path where I could challenge the skills I had learnt. This brings me to where I am today. I started working at Bishopdale Law as a receptionist at the beginning of 2017 and I am thoroughly enjoying the time I’ve spent here so far. The team is made up of friendly individuals who have welcomed me with open arms.
Outside of work I primarily like to catch up with friends and family but I also enjoy doing various activities such as tramping, photography (in particular Astrophotography) and learning the piano and guitar.
I have been working in the legal profession since leaving high school nearly 20 years ago. I began working at Bishopdale Law in February 2015, having worked for a sole practitioner in the city for 11 years.
I married my husband, Alistair in 2009 and we had our son, Guy in 2011. We have a cat named Schumi who is slowly getting used to living with an active pre-schooler in the house. In my spare time I enjoy outings with my husband and son, reading, catching up with friends and family and playing online games (I admit to being a Candy Crush addict!)
I enjoy fast paced, structured environment of a law office, thrive on providing a friendly and helpful service to clients and gain satisfaction from assisting people with buying or selling their homes. I am appreciating being part of the friendly and relaxed team at Bishopdale Law.
Originally from Southland I moved to Christchurch in 2008 to attend the University of Canterbury where I obtained a Law Degree and Bachelor of Arts. After two years of practice with a general firm in Timaru I returned to Christchurch in 2016 to join Bishopdale Law.
Starting my career in a general firm allowed me the opportunity to experience many different areas of law. After much thought I decided to specialise in residential property, Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Trusts. I particularly enjoy working with first home buyers and guiding them through their first property transaction particularly with their Kiwisaver and Housing New Zealand Home Start Grant applications.
Outside the office I enjoy outdoor activities such as running, surf lifesaving and skiing.
I have been a part of the team here at Bishopdale Law for the last 6 months. Prior to this I spent the last 11 years in customer service roles and am a qualified barista. I enjoy all of the challenges that working in a Law Firm has to offer, and hope to study to become a Legal Executive in the future. I am also in the final stages of finishing my course for a Certificate in Business.
I grew up on a dairy farm in a small town on the West Coast but have spent the last 10 years living with my partner in Christchurch.
In my spare time I enjoy being with my family and friends, catching a movie, walking my dog and going for bike rides with my partner.
Richard, Jane & Angela all enjoy working for a range of clients, developing long term relationships and providing legal experience and assistance in a variety of areas including property transactions (residential, commercial and relationship property), wills, estates, trusts, powers of attorney, residential care subsidy applications, disputes, company incorporations, partnership and shareholders agreements, setting up and administering charities. Richard is a Trustee of two charities and the firm has sponsored the Christchurch Marathon.
We offer a supportive solicitor client relationship with personal service from experienced practitioners.
“Bishopdale Law is a Christchurch law firm that has a reputation for excellence, illustrated by the large amount of new business gained through personal recommendation by satisfied clients.”
